The population is mostly spread along its stunning coastline with, arguably, the best beaches in Australia, indeed, in the in the world! If you’re searching for a great lifestyle, GP jobs in Sydney nsw will deliver in abundance.
You can have any lifestyle you want in NSW. The vast Blue Mountain range spreads from top to bottom of the state along the eastern coast of the country. At it’s southern tip lie the vast ski fields with famous resorts such as Perisher Valley, Thredbo, and Kosciuszko.
At it’s middle – the jewel in the crown – the glittering city of Sydney with its sister cities of Woolongong and Newcastle and all their commerce, culture, food, wine and fun.
Going north it gets warmer and the beaches better until you reach a sub-tropical paradise – perhaps one of the best such locations is Byron Bay.
To the interior – west of the Blue mountains – lie the arable lands of the state which give way to vast cattle stations giving way to the arid interior, known best for its opal mining.
From surfing on fabulous beaches, to trekking through rain forests, to climbing mountains, to skiing, sailing, visiting historic towns, geological sites, and wineries, enjoying the opera and theatre, and world class food – there’s possibly nowhere better to live!

The climate is temperate, but with slightly humid and wet summers and clear, cool, sunny winter days.
Sydney is the largest of Australia’s cities and was the first to be established. It is very multicultural with over 250 languages spoken and over a third of its residents being born overseas. The city is the most expensive in Australia. The cost of housing is up there with some of the most expensive world-wide.
International medical graduates looking for GP jobs in Sydney NSW, may find it challenging as Syndey is not normally considered a priority or DPA location. However, there are nearby DPA areas within reach of Sydney and the cities of Newcastle and Woolongong which will give you a good job and a great city/beach lifestyle.
The two cities of Newcastle and Wollongong, approximately an hour and a half north and south of Sydney respectively, are worth considering for their lifestyles and GP job opportunities. Both are famous for their amazing beaches and water sports.
Wollongong, once a port town, has reinvented itself as a University city and has excellent schools. Newcastle is a short drive from the famous Hunter Valley wine growing region and has it’s own amazing beaches.
Set to the south of the state of NSW lies the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) with its own capital, Canberra. This is the seat of government for Australia and was founded following the federation of the various states of Australia in 1913.
Canberra is set in delightful rural countryside and lies on a plain at the foot the Australian Alps. It enjoys warm summers and cool winters. The city has been expanding, and its population has grown steadily in recent years.
It is home to a particularly good war museum, the headquarters for scientific and industrial research, the defense academy and the Mount Stomolo Observatory.
Things to do in your time off around Canberra… ski, ski, ski; explore the countryside with its vast farms and historic towns; and for weekends away, visit Sydney (only a 3 hour drive or a short flight away), Batemans Bay and the stunning South NSW coastline (only 2 hours drive away), or fly to Melbourne.
Finding DPA GP jobs in Sydney NSW and other metropolitan areas can be challenging but there are options close to the cities, and not forgetting the amazing regional coastal towns, where you will find you can work and live the lifestyle of your dreams.
