Get a better work /life balance!
There will be many different reasons as to why GPs from the UK wish to move to Australia to work, but the over-riding reason we hear over and over again is that they are desperate to get a better work/life balance. In Australia a GP has a choice as to how many hours a day he/she will work, and GPs typically work no more than 7 to 8 hours a day and still earn exceptionally well.
Furthermore, during those hours of work, the Australian GP will have the time to treat patients in a more considered way, taking a more holistic and preventative approach to their care. This in turn offers the GP the opportunity to treat patients as they were trained to treat them and allows the GP to fulfill his/her calling.
